Strong Increase in Enrollment for the Master for Smart Data Science

On Tuesday, September 2, ENSAI welcomed its eleventh cohort of students to the Master for Smart Data Science. Following a notable surge in applications this year, 26 students will begin the one-year program.

The master’s program is taught entirely in English and includes a semester of intensive courses, followed by a 4- to 6-month internship in a company or research laboratory.

Welcome to ENSAI!

Students were welcomed by François Portier, the program’s head, Stéphane Legleye, ENSAI’s director of studies, and Cécile Terrien, the program coordinator.

“I am delighted that this new cohort includes an even greater number of brilliant students. This reflects the growing appeal of our program and its relevance to current scientific and societal issues,” said François Portier.

The class of 2026 is particularly cosmopolitan, with students representing 13 different nationalities: Benin, Cameroon, China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Ivory Coast, Morocco, the Netherlands, Senegal, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia. Several students joined the master’s program through double degree programs between ENSAI and ESE Rotterdam, La Sapienza University in Rome, and the University of Bologna. Others are Erasmus students from TU Dortmund, La Sapienza, and the University of Bologna.

Applications Are on the Rise

During the last admissions campaign, applications flooded in. One reason for the growing interest among applicants is the Eduniversal ranking of the best master’s degrees in Big Data and Data Science in France, in which the Master for Smart Data Science has been highly ranked for several years. Additionally, the global alumni community, active in business and research sectors, contributes to the program’s reputation.

The selection criteria remain high due to the intensity of the program. Applicants must have at least a four-year degree and demonstrate solid knowledge of statistics, mathematics, and computer science.
