Master for Smart Data Science Class of 2024 Graduation

A commencement ceremony was held on Friday, September 20 at ENSAI, for the Master for Smart Data Science Class of 2024. Graduates received their degrees after a semester of coursework followed by a six-month internship and Master’s thesis defense

The 2024 “Smarties” had defended their internship thesis earlier in the week.

Celebrating after an intense year

The graduates were joined by families, ENSAI faculty, and personnel, to celebrate their accomplishment. The ceremony was emceed by Todd Donahue, Head of the International Relations at ENSAI. Ronan Le Saout, Director of ENSAI, was the first to congratulate the students.

Next to take the floor was François Portier, head of the program this year, who praised each graduate for their hard work and their ability to foster a stimulating study environment.

Cécile Terrien, Academic Affairs Coordinator for this program since its creation, seized the opportunity to remind the graduates that they were the best ambassadors for the Master for Smart Data Science.

Upon receiving their degree from Ronan Le Saout, graduates said a few words about their experiences at ENSAI, notably how much this close-knit class contributed to meeting the challenges of the program.

A new chapter for graduates

A particularity of this program is the diversity of cohorts. They are composed of international students from various backgrounds: undergraduates or professionals looking to improve their command of Data Science. All of them are now fully prepared for careers as highly skilled Data Scientists in numerous sectors. This program also opens the door to PhD studies for a research career.

Gonem Lau joined the program as part of the double degree agreement between ENSAI and the Erasmus School of Economics in Rotterdam. He holds an MSc in Econometrics, Business Analytics and Quantitative Marketing from ESE.

“What I really liked about the program is that it’s not just theoretical, but also very practical. Besides mathematics, we also learned to master tools that we can use as data scientists. The Master’s gave me the knowledge and skills to do well during my 6-month research internship the L2TI Lab at the University of Paris Sorbonne Nord, where I worked on object-detection.”

Ines Rezgallah joined ENSAI’s Master for Smart Data Science after completing her studies in Business Analytics in Tunisia. She did her internship at Legrand, one of the world leaders in electronic products and systems for electrical installations, on “Advanced Clustering and Predictive Analytics for Supply Chain Optimization.”

“I was an intern in the Digital Building Infrastructure at Legrand, i.e. a supply chain department. The team was international, with colleagues from Poland, the Netherlands, Morocco… ENSAI’s master’s prepared me perfectly for this type of professional environment: students of different backgrounds and cultures bring their skills together to work on projects. It was an enriching experience! Coming from a business school, joining a supply chain team in an industrial company was a challenge but I managed to bring in advanced methodologies to use data in decision-making.”

Ines has signed a permanent contract with Legrand, as a supply chain data scientist.

Congratulations to all of the graduates of the Class of 2024!
