International double degrees

Application and admission

ENSAI has developed double degree agreements with several highly respected universities and graduate schools around the world. These agreements facilitate incoming international student mobility, notably within the framework of ENSAI’s longstanding partnerships with the Network of African Statistics Schools (RESA). Other agreements provide opportunities for incoming European students while also offering degree-granting study abroad experiences for ENSAI students enrolled in both the Engineer Statistician and Civil Servant programs.

Double degree partners

ENSAI maintains a network of partners with whom it has signed incoming and/or outgoing double degree agreements:

ENSAI’s ties to the Network of African Statistics Schools (RESA) is the result of historical links and cooperation between the French NSI, INSEE, and NSIs in several African countries. The ties between ENSAI and the elite graduate schools of the RESA are part of a broader cooperation that exists between the Group of National Statistics and Economics Schools (GENES) and the RESA. This partnership finances teacher mobility toward RESA schools, scholarships for African students studying in France at ENSAE Paris or ENSAI, and the coordination and organization of the competitive entrance exams for entry into RESA schools via the Support Center for African Statistics Schools (CAPESA), which is located at ENSAI and co-financed by the GENES and AfriStat.

Students from partner institutions enroll at ENSAI and obtain either the Master for Smart Data Science or the Master Data Science for Public Decision Making (EMOS) in addition to the Master’s degree from their home institution.

Admission to Double Degree programs

Students from ENSAI partners must initiate the application process at their home institution, which conducts its own internal selection process, before official nomination to the double degree program at ENSAI. Some double degree programs require an additional interview process with ENSAI prior to official admission to our program. Students should therefore obtain information regarding the application process from their home institution double degree coordinator or international office.

ENSAI students who wish to apply to a double degree program should visit the “Double Degrees Abroad” page available on Moodle for further information about eligibility requirements and application procedures.

Tuition fees

Students participating in a double degree program pay tuition fees according to the terms of the double degree agreement. Students should obtain information regarding fees from their home institution double degree coordinator or international office.

Language Requirements

Pursuing a double degree at ENSAI will give students the opportunity to develop their linguistic skills in both English and French, but minimal levels of one or both languages may be required.

Even if students elect to follow a program that is taught entirely in English, they are highly encouraged to learn some French prior to arrival, as speaking the language of Molière is essential for daily life and integration. International students are also highly encouraged to follow French as a Foreign Language courses while studying at ENSAI. They are provided free of charge.

Language requirements for programs are detailed as follows:

  • Engineer Statistician program:
    • B2 minimum in French, B1 minimum level in English upon entry, B2+ required for obtaining the degree. Non-francophone students must also certify their B2 level in French to graduate.
  • Master for Smart Data Science program:
    • B2 minimum level in English for admission
  • Master Data Science for Public Decision Making:
    • B2 minimum level in French for admission to ES & MSP tracks
    • B2 minimum level in English for admission to EMOS International track

Official language certifications are accepted but not necessary. ENSAI trusts its partner institutions to nominate students with appropriate linguistic skills.
