Second semester

Spatial analysis

Objectives

Introduction to different types of spatial data and their analysis methods. Introduction to mapping with Qgis and R. Awareness of the problem of spatial aggregation and data discretization methods. Emphasis is placed on applications with real surface data. Analysis will be carried out using R software.

Course outline

The different types of spatial data (surface, point and continuous) and their analysis methods.
Preparing statistical data for cartographic representation
Different types of cartographic representation (notions of graphic semiology)
The importance of the discretization method in the case of choropleth maps.
The spatial aggregation problem (MAUP) and gridding.
Identify spatial autocorrelation (continuous data).
