Recruitment: Position of Assistant Professor in Data Science

ENSAI, the French graduate-level engineering school specialized in Statistics, Data Science, and Economics, is currently inviting applications for a “tenure-track” Assistant professorship position. The appointments start in September 2024, at the earliest.

The position is for an initial three-year term renewable for another three years before the tenure evaluation. The salary is highly competitive and the teaching duties are reduced as compared to French university standards.

Candidate Profile

The candidate will participate to the teaching at Bachelor/ Master level and research activities in the lab. She/he is expected to hold a strong expertise in computational and algorithmic aspects of “Machine Learning”.

The candidate must hold a PhD in some related field (e.g., Statistical Learning, Optimization, Signal Processing, Deep Learning, etc.) with a strong publication record in its field of expertise.

Details about the position

At the Assistant Professor level, the teaching load is 50h/year during the first three years and 70h/year during the next three years if the contract is renewed.  At the Associate Professor level, the teaching load is 70h/year. The teaching duty is given in the field of computer science, data science or machine learning.

The candidate is expected to actively participate in the scientific life of the lab by interacting with the team and developing a network of scientific collaborators. We note that the CREST lab provides substantial financial support for participation in conferences and workshops, organizing scientific events, and hosting visiting professors.

ENSAI (the French National School for Statistics and Data Analysis – Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Analyse de l’Information) is a “Grande École”, which offers high level education in Statistics, Economics and Data Science. ENSAI offers several Master-level specializations as well as a PhD program in Statistics.

ENSAI, together with ENSAE Paris, Ecole Polytechnique, and CNRS in the Paris region, share the research laboratory Centre de Recherche en Economie et Statistique (CREST ). The research activity of CREST at ENSAI covers topics in Statistics, Economics, and Data Science, in both theoretical and applied aspects.
